Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Camp prices are dependent on current rates set by the state. Current prices for overnight camps are $696.75 for 3 nights and $929 for 4 nights!

  • Absolutely! Work with your personal agent to get camp added to your ISP. For overnight camps you will need service code OR507 “Daily Relief Care” to be added for the number of days you would like to be at camp! If you are interested in Day Camp, please ask to add OR526 Attendant care ADL/IADL for the total number of hours of Day Camp you would like to attend (each camp is 5hrs. long!)

  • Once you have requested for Upward Bound Camp to be added to your ISP, Your personal agent will do the rest.

Personal Agents: Please send service agreements to: ISP@upwardboundcamp.org

  • No! Upward Bound Camp wants camp programming to be as accessible as possible for our participants. This means that there is no additional registration fee or other hidden fees (unless you are using a credit card, then there is a small processing fee for that transaction.)

  • While this changes from camp to camp we aim to have a ratio of 4:1 or less. Campers who are best supported 1:1 can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more information if this is a support that you need! camp@upwardboundcamp.org

  • We seek to offer individualized support to meet the specific needs of each camper who comes to share life with us. We are well suited to support campers who need assistance with ADLs such as toileting, showering, mealtime support, dressing, etc. We seek to provide social support whenever possible to foster healthy relationships within our community. Furthermore, we have a nurse and recreational therapist on staff allowing us to care for most medical needs and can adapt almost any activity to fit the abilities of each camper!

  • Unfortunately, yes, though we are constantly working to find new ways to incorporate all people into our programming we still have some limitations. Please contact camp@upwardboundcamp.org for more information on any of the following as we would like to work with you to get your camper involved in programming if possible!

Medical: We are unable to support campers who require IV medications, diabetic campers unable to check their own blood sugar levels and administer their own insulin, or campers using feeding tubes.

Behavioral: To create a safe environment for all staff and campers, we may not be able to support campers who have shown abusive/injurious behaviors to themselves and/or others in the past 6 months.

Facilities: Due to the loss of many of our buildings in the 2020 fire we are currently unable to support campers who use powered wheelchairs and/or hoyer style lifts to transfer. We ARE able to support campers who can use manual wheelchairs and are able to bear some weight in a manpowered lift/transfer.

**If you are interested in build your own camp during the fall, winter, or spring we are currently only able to serve campers who can ambulate independently or with the support of a cane or walker due to the structure of the camp house.

  • No, we do not require campers to have any vaccinations before coming to camp. We currently ask about vaccination history for COVID 19 on physician forms as the risk of infection is still present, but this is not required in order to attend camp! If you have any further questions about vaccinations or medical requirements, please contact our health care manager, lanora.dienstel@upwardboundcamp.org

  • Our goal is to open registration for all camper programs each year by the end of January. When registration is open we will send out an informational email and/or postcard to those on our mailing list. If you would like to be added to these lists please scroll to the bottom of our “home” page to get signed up! Or email carole.robare@upwardboundcamp.org

  • Due to the Beachie Creek Fires in 2020 we lost many of our camp structures and still have distance to cover in the rebuilding effort…but that can’t stop camp from happening! During the summer we blend the rustic feel of camp with the comfort of home in our canvas bell tents that serve as camper cabins! Each tent sleeps 2 campers. We use a shower trailer and portable toilets as our primary bathrooms. Our one standing building, the old schoolhouse, serves many purposes housing the dining hall, activity space, electricity and indoor plumbing!! We also have various outdoor pavilions and spaces used for activities including an archery range, gravel track, baseball field, campfire pit, hiking path, and nature pavilion.

  • While activities change each week based on the theme of the week, common camp activities include archery, animal encounters, water games, nature walks/hikes, fishing, campfire, music/instruments, skits, arts & crafts, physical activities, a talent show, camp dance, and more!

  • Currently our day camp program is being revamped so there are no scheduled day camp programs apart from our holiday celebrations! We hope to get this program off the ground as soon as possible so please email our program director emily@upwardboundcamp.org if you are interested in this opportunity or have ideas about how this could best be designed to serve you!

  • This depends on the camp that you are attending!
