Special Announcement: Upward Bound Camp and wildfires
The devastating wildfires in Oregon this week have impacted so many. It’s overwhelming.
At Upward Bound Camp we are relieved to report that all staff are safe although some have suffered personal property losses. On the grounds, several of our key program buildings were completely destroyed as a result of the fires. As a sentinel of hope we are happy to report that the historic 1927 original Gates school building is still standing, as is our staff residence and activity pavilion.
As of Sunday, September 13th, the entire Santiam Canyon remains under mandatory Level 3 evacuation and therefore no one has been allowed to return to the campus in order to inspect the damage.
Even though we will be unable to provide any programs for the remainder of the year, the board and staff are deeply committed to continuing our mission in service to people with diversabilities. We hope to resume programing by mid-2021.
Find us on Facebook where we typically provide more frequent updates on what's going on.
